Biden Defeats in New Hampshire, Iowa Nearly Unprecedented for a Major Party Nominee

Former Vice President Joe Biden's path to the Democratic Party's presidential nomination is nearly unprecedented.

Biden becomes just the second candidate from one of the two major parties to lose both New Hampshire and Iowa in his party's primary and caucus and clinch the number of delegates required to be the party's presidential nominee. Biden did it after winning seven states, and Washington D.C., in primaries last week.
