Former U.S. Representative Beto O'Rourke, a Democrat who lost his Texas U.S. Senate race against Republican Ted Cruz in 2018 and his 2020 presidential bid, threw his hat behind U.S. Representative Joseph P. Kennedy III the weekend before the September 1 primary.
The Boston Red Sox recently signed a local player as an undrafted free agent. The team signed Attleboro native and UMass Dartmouth alum Nate Tellier to a three-year minor league contract, as Dartmouth Week reports.
Tellier stood out in the New England Collegiate Baseball League last summer when he pitched for the Martha's Vineyard Sharks. Although a Division 3 player in college, he faced mostly Division 1 competition in the league. He struck out 35 batters in 17.2 innings and posted a 3.57 ERA in 16 relief appearances. Tellier did not have a full baseball season at UMass Dartmouth this past spring due to the coronavirus outbreak.
