Bernie Sanders Minimum Wage Hike Proposal Would Reduce Poverty and Jobs, Congressional Budget Office Says

U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) has a plan that would lift several hundred thousand people out of poverty, while cutting far more jobs altogether.
The senator wants to the United States to gradually increase its federal minimum wage from $7.25 an hour to $17 an hour by 2029. The Congressional Budget Office found that this increase would reduce the number of people living in poverty by 400,000 people, but cut about 700,000 jobs nationwide, according to the Washington Examiner.
