State Representative Jon Santiago (D-South End) dropped out of the Boston mayoral race on Tuesday morning via Twitter.
The Santiago campaign lagged far behind in the polling. In a late June poll put out by The Boston Globe, Santiago was in fifth place with 5 percent support. Meanwhile, the frontrunners in the race were Boston city councilor Michelle Wu (23 percent) and acting mayor Kim Janey (22 percent).
