New Canaan (CT)  police have arrested and charged a woman for driving under the influence of … vanilla extract.

The CT Post reports that police were called to the intersection of Grove and Pine streets after receiving a report about a car stopped in the road, its female driver still behind the steering wheel "with her eyes closed."

The Portland Press Herald reports that the Maine House of Representatives voted this week to ban house members from "taking photographs or videos of one another during floor sessions."

The House's 91-53 vote was nearly split down party lines, the PPH reports, with Democrats in support of the new rule and Republicans opposed.
