Angela Davis Donating Her Papers To Harvard

Angela Davis, 74, is donating her papers to the Arthur and Elizabeth Schlesinger Library on the History of Women in America, a research library at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University.

Davis is the former head of the Communist Party U.S.A., a retired professor of the University of California at Santa Cruz's History of Consciousness Department, and the former director of the school's Feminist Studies Department; she was tried and acquitted on conspiracy and homicide charges for her alleged role in a 1970 takeover of a courtroom in San Rafael, California by Black Panthers that left four people dead.

The Ohio governor, who ran in the Republican primary for president in 2016, is reported to have interest in challenging President Donald Trump in 2020.

But it's his commitment to public service that drew Kennedy School officials to invite him to the May 23 graduation, Dean Douglas W. Elmendorf told The Harvard Crimson, while noting Ohio's economic growth during Kasich time as governor:   "We look for people who have made important contributions to public policy and who can convey to our graduating students and their parents and family members a vision of what people going into public service can do in the world," the dean said.
