Dartmouth Professor: Rainy Election Day Alters Voters, Helps Republicans

Voters are in a bad mood on a rainy day and so are less risk-tolerant and so are more conservative-minded and so are more likely to vote Republican, according to a Dartmouth government professor, who says he has data to back up his assertion that not only are Republicans more likely to come to the polls on a rainy day than Democrats but that about 1 percent of the electorate is more likely to vote Republican on a rainy day. A Democratic state representative from Claremont, New Hampshire had trouble buying the concept, saying:  "It's a gloomy day, so you vote for the gloomy party?"
