American heroes in Europe

It has been said that we live in a hero-less era: a world where young people are entitled, and selfish, and unwilling to sacrifice for others; a world where even yesterday's heroes (Columbus, Washington, Lincoln, Martin Luther King) are criticized for their personal failings or, worse yet, for not comporting with modern notions of morality or "tolerance."

And, yet, just when some lament the absence of true heroes altogether, along come four Americans — Anthony Sadler, Spencer Stone, Alek Skarlatos, and Mark Moogalian — to remind us that heroism and courage are alive and well.

Hurricane Donald swept through the Boston area on Friday, bringing with it the ceaseless fanfare, sound bites, and criticisms that continue to whirl around real estate magnate Donald Trump's bid for the Republican presidential nomination.

Trump claims that the $100-per-person Norwood event was not a fundraiser, although it was billed as such by host Ernie Boch Jr., and the Associated Press reported that there were multiple signs posted on the entrance to Boch's property informing entrants to have "cash ready or make checks payable to: Donald J. Trump for President, Inc."
