Amazon in Fall River brings jobs with distribution center

FALL RIVER – Amazon.com – the world's largest retailer – is just months away from opening a new distribution center in Fall River, pumping at least $50 million into the project and delivering hundreds of new jobs to the beleaguered mill city.

"I think it's a wonderful thing. I think it's job opportunities for people in this area," said Linda Pereira, vice president of the Fall River City Council. "I can't wait for them to open their doors."

Though Blessed Mother Teresa spoke these words over 20 years ago, few can forget the waves her comments made through the carefully patrolled waters of American politics.
