Alleged Islamic State sympathizer faces terror charge in NYC

NEW YORK (AP) — A New York man twice turned back from entering the U.K. because of his suspicious appearance faces charges in New York that he tried to assist the Islamic State terrorist group. Sajmir Alimehmeti, 22, of the Bronx, was arrested Tuesday and awaits an initial appearance in Manhattan federal court. A criminal complaint signed by an FBI agent described Alimehmeti as repeatedly demonstrating support for the Islamic State since 2014.
