Some 559 ferry trips from Cape Cod to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket were cancelled between January and April 2018 by the Steamship Authority because of mechanical breakdowns, according to a new report.
Only 148 ferry trips were cancelled because of mechanical breakdowns during the previous four years (2014 through 2017) combined, according to The Vineyard Gazette.

The measure, Senate Bill 193, passed the state Senate in 2017 but lost Thursday on what appears to be a final procedural vote in the state House of Representatives, 173-168, on a motion that would have sent the measure to a conference committee between the two chambers, according to The Union Leader.
