$5 Million for New Cannabis Control Commission

The Massachusetts Legislature appropriated $2.7 million this past week for the new commission, which is supposed to oversee the new marijuana market in the state. The Legislature previously appropriated $2.3 million, so the total is $5 million for fiscal year 2018, which began this past July 1.

The inmate, a biological male who now identifies as a female, says prison staff at the Hampden County jail failed to provide protection against harassment, extortion, and rape. The county sheriff's office says jail staff didn't treat the inmate disrespectfully and made extraordinary efforts to accommodate the inmate's special requests.
