# Quincy Democrat Wants Transgender Socialist Governor’s Council Opponent Removed From Ballot

A Democratic primary battle to unseat **Christopher Iannella**, the dean of the Governor's Council who represents District 4, is heating up. Challenger **Ron Iacobucci**, a workforce development executive who lives in Quincy, filed a complaint with the state to disqualify another candidate — 24-year-old Boston resident **Jordan Korgood** — from the ballot. 

The complaint is up for a hearing next week. Iacobucci contends Korgood is not eligible to run because she does not satisfy the constitutional residency requirement and was registered with another political party in the one-year period before filing her nomination papers. 

"I have received Mr. Iacobucci’s Objection and am reviewing with my team," Korgood said in a statement to the News Service. "We will respond as required by Secretary of the Commonwealth’s Elections Division rules and I will have a more detailed statement at that time." 

Governor's Council candidates must have lived in Massachusetts for at least five years immediately prior to an election. Iacobucci's complaint, filed with the State Ballot Law Commission on May 29, says that Korgood voted via absentee ballot from a New York address from 2020 to 2024\. 

The complaint alleges Korgood's "voter registration in New York was purged only after she registered to vote in Massachusetts, and she remained a member of the Working Families Party in New York State until August 13, 2025 when she registered to vote for the first time in Massachusetts." 

Iacobucci argues Korgood should be precluded from running since she also allegedly fails to meet the "statutory political party enrollment requirement," in which Korgood should have been enrolled in the Democratic Party by May 26, 2025\. 

Iacobucci, who runs MassHire's South Shore career center, notes on his campaign website that District 4 has been represented by the same councillor for more than three decades. 

"\[T\]hat long tenure has produced a Council known for rubber-stamping appointments and approving spending with little scrutiny or debate," his website says. 

Korgood's social media says they're fighting for a better judicial system "because we all deserve better."
