The favored pick of Republican Party insiders, Mike Minogue, quickly rolled his weekend convention nomination into a new TV ad in which he name-checks Gloucester, New Bedford, Worcester and Springfield, cities where he will be looking to pick up support in the months ahead.

In the ad, which features footage of the candidate at Saturday's convention in Worcester, Minogue talks about meeting people on the campaign trail who he says are ready for "a new kind of governor to shake up the political establishment." Minogue's campaign said the ad "will go live across the Boston and Springfield media markets."

Convention-goers disqualified Mike Kennealy from contention but narrowly agreed to let Brian Shortsleeve continue his run for governor.

"Congratulations to Mike Minogue for winning the insider game which is the state convention. Now, 300,000 Republican primary voters will decide this race. They're not gonna settle for slick TV ads and empty rhetoric, no matter how much money gets spent. They want answers," Shortsleeve said in a video [posted to X](https://x.com/ShortsleeveMA/status/2049504999185563674?s=20&ref=newbostonpost.com) on Wednesday, in which he called himself "the only real outsider" in the race and appeared in front of the Hynes Convention Center.

Minogue's campaign touted that about "600 Republican leaders and grassroots activists," along with new supporters, gathered at a unity rally Tuesday night in Danvers.

"Let's have some real debates across Massachusetts, one-on-one, no hiding, no excuses," Shortsleeve said in his video. Massachusetts

Democrats announced a post-convention $100,000 digital ad buy portraying Minogue and Shortsleeve as "MAGA millionaires" who support President Trump's priorities.

The 15- and 30-second spots will appear on online video and social media platforms, including Hulu, Roku, Peacock, Sling, Discovery, YouTube, Facebook and Instagram.
