Republican Mike Minogue has put $17.3 million of his own money into his gubernatorial campaign over the last year, including $1.5 million in September.

An update to the candidate's September bank report with the Office of Campaign and Political Finance shows two transfers from the candidate himself: $1 million on Sept. 17 and another $500,000 on Sept. 24\. Of the $1.85 million in gross September receipts for Minogue, 81% came from his own pocket and outside donors gave about $347,000 total.

A September spending surge reduced Minogue's campaign coffers to about $1.5 million heading into the final month of his election matchup with Democrat Maura Healey, only enough cash for about a week of spending at last month's pace.

Healey spent about $4.1 million while taking in about $3.5 million during September, though a similarly large share of the money she brought in last month came from a source other than donors. Healey's campaign transferred $2.9 million from its savings account on Sept. 30, roughly 82% of the $3.5 million it reported for the month.

Excluding Minogue's self-funding and Healey's savings transfer, the Democrat took in about $645,500 across about 5,400 itemized contributions while the Republican collected about $347,200 over roughly 1,100 contributions.

Minogue's contributions show further signs of GOP unity around his candidacy: both of his former Republican primary opponents donated to his campaign last month.

Brian Shortsleeve, who lost to Minogue in the Sept. 1 primary, donated $1,000 to Minogue on Sept. 29\. Mike Kennealy, who did not get enough support at the spring convention to continue his candidacy and backed Minogue, made a $1,000 donation Sept. 2, according to OCPF.
