# Nor’easter Washes Boats Ashore Across Massachusetts Coast

Anthony Kinahan went to Wessagussett Yacht Club in Weymouth late Wednesday afternoon to pull his boat out of the water. 

The wind had already picked up, making it too rough to take the boat to the launch.

The Braintree resident, small business owner and father of twin boys under 2, couldn’t get back before the weekend’s nor’easter. 

On Saturday afternoon, a club member called to say his boat was missing from its mooring. Kinahan arrived shortly afterward and found it washed ashore at Wessagusset Beach.

“I knew I was taking a chance leaving it in the water, but I didn’t expect to find it on the beach,” Kinahan told NewBostonPost. “I’m grateful it had a soft landing in the sand and wasn’t damaged.”

On Monday, Mike Wille of Classic Marine pulled the boat off the beach.

“Mike came through for me today, and I really appreciate his help,” Kinahan said.

Kinahan wasn’t alone. Other boats [washed ashore](https://www.wcvb.com/article/boats-wash-ashore-on-beach-in-weymouth-during-noreaster/73918923?ref=newbostonpost.com) at Wessagusset Beach and in other parts of Massachusetts.

A 34-foot sailboat named Payton’s Song [washed ashore](https://www.wcvb.com/article/sailboat-washes-ashore-on-wollaston-beach-in-quincy/73921885?ref=newbostonpost.com) at Wollaston Beach in Quincy early Monday. Quincy police also [received](https://whdh.com/news/boat-washed-ashore-at-wollaston-beach-in-quincy-during-noreaster/?ref=newbostonpost.com) several calls Sunday about boats that broke free during the storm.

At least seven boats [washed aground](https://marbleheadcurrent.org/2026/09/28/harbormaster-at-least-seven-boats-wash-ashore-in-noreaster/?ref=newbostonpost.com) in Marblehead, and one sailboat sank. A boat in Provincetown also [broke loose](https://www.bostonglobe.com/2026/09/28/metro/noreaster-storm-leaves-town-relieved-that-impacts-werent-worse/?ref=newbostonpost.com) from its mooring and hit the rocks.

The slow-moving storm started Friday and lingered into Monday. It brought several inches of rain and [wind gusts](https://www.cbsnews.com/boston/news/noreaster-impact-massachusetts-boston-area-wind-rain/?ref=newbostonpost.com) of 50 to 70 miles per hour to some coastal and higher-elevation areas.

The nor’easter also caused coastal flooding and beach erosion. In Scituate, waves [damaged seawalls](https://www.wcvb.com/article/storm-surge-damages-sea-walls-in-scituate-massachusetts-during-noreaster/73921648?ref=newbostonpost.com) and tore a deck away from a home near Humarock Beach.
